Biography

Dr. Nicole White is a General Practitioner with over 15 years of experience, and a clinical focus on paediatrics. As the co-owner of Neighbourhood Medical, Nicole has built a career focused on the health and well-being of children. With a strong commitment to advancing paediatric care, she serves as a representative on the Queensland Child and Youth Clinical Network and the Queensland Paediatric Quality Council. Nicole is also an active member of the RACGP Qld Faculty Council and is a GP Liaison Officer for Children’s Health Queensland. Paediatrics is at the heart of Nicole’s clinical practice, shaping every aspect of her work to provide exceptional care to young patients and their families.

Katie Williamson

Biography

Dr Williamson has worked as a GP and rural generalist in remote and regional communities across Australia since graduating from the University of Sydney in 2005. She is a medical educator and has lectured for James Cook University, the University of Wollongong and Flinders University. She has supervised registrars in practice since she was a new Fellow herself. As well as consulting in Cairns, she travels across Queensland providing GP services in remote communities.
Dr Williamson is well regarded by her patients for approaching their health with curiosity and compassion. She is known as a helpful coach, getting patients motivated and empowered to make positive changes towards healthier lives. She also has a specific interest in autism, and ADHD diagnosis and management. She is a member of Autistic Doctors International, the RACGP Specific Interest Group (ADHD, ASD and Neurodiversity), QLD ADHD GP Alliance and the Australasian ADHD Professionals Association (AADPA). She enjoys empowering members of diverse groups.

Michael Wright

Biography

Dr Michael Wright is a general practitioner (GP), health economist and health services researcher based in Sydney, Australia. Michael combines clinical practice with strategic appointments and academic research analysing the effects of health policy on the quality and performance of primary care. Michael is the President of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, and Associate Professor at the International Centre for Future Health Systems at the University of New South Wales. Michael’s previous appointments include Chief Medical Officer of Avant Mutual, chair of RACGP’s Reference Expert Committee on Funding and Health System Reform, and Board Chair of Central and Eastern Sydney Primary Health Network.

Michael completed GP registrar training in Queensland and previously worked in London as a GP, where he completed his Masters in Public Health and was also a researcher at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. Michael completed his PhD in health economics at the Centre for Health Economics Research and Evaluation (CHERE) at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) in 2019. His PhD investigated the impact of continuity of general practice care on health outcomes, and his research interests including growing the evidence base about the value of high quality primary care, and health policy research into quality, efficiency and sustainability of health services.

Nicholas Zwar

Biography

Professor Nick Zwar is a general practitioner and primary health care researcher. His research interests are in prevention and management of chronic illness with a focus on respiratory and cardiovascular diseases.
In 2015, he was awarded the Bridges-Webb Medal by the Australasian Association for Academic Primary Care (AAAPC) in recognition of his achievements in general practice teaching and research. In 2020 Nick was named by the Australian newspaper as the country’s leading researcher in the field of primary health care.
Nick is currently: Chair, Expert Advisory Group RACGP smoking cessation guidelines, Chair, National Asthma Council Australian Asthma Handbook Guidelines Committee and a member of the COPD-X Guideline Committee, Lung Foundation Australia. He was a member of the executive committee for the 10th edition of the RACGP Guidelines for Preventive Activities in General Practice and was chair of the committee that developed the 2016 edition.
