Biography

Dr Lisa Fraser is a practice owner, fulltime GP, mother, wife, sister, daughter and recreational swimmer. If she was not a GP she would own a small catering business. Lisa lives and works in far north Queensland in a cane farming region called Gordonvale. Lisa's special interests include medical education, skin cancer medicine, mental health and sexual health.

Lisa was the winner of the 2024 RACGP Queensland GP Supervisor of the Year Award.

Biography

Prof Paul Glasziou FRACGP, PhD is Professor of Evidence-Based Medicine at Bond University was a part-time General Practitioner for many years, and the Professor and Director of the Centre for Evidence-Based Medicine at Oxford University from 2003-2010. His key interests include identifying and removing the barriers to using high quality research in everyday clinical practice. His research has influenced numerous guidelines and clinical policies and practice (cardiovascular disease management, screening, clinical monitoring, and antibiotics stewardship) and guidelines for reporting research. He co-founded the International Society for Evidence-based Health Care and the RACGP's Handbook of Non-Drug Interventions.

Belinda Hammond

Biography

Belinda Hammond is a strong and proud Tanganekald woman with her family from the Coorong region in South Australia who has dedicated her entire career of 20+ years to working in Aboriginal health in both ACCHO and non-ACCHO sector and state government.
She is the current Project Lead for the NACCHO-RACGP Partnership Project, as well as an author led the management, coordination and publication of the fourth edition of the National guide to preventive healthcare for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people which was launched in December 2024, and the updated health check recommendations which are due for publication in early 2025.
Belinda is also an experienced Senior Aboriginal Health Practitioner and has a strong background in health informatics, continuous quality improvement and research.
Belinda has been instrumental in providing a strong cultural lens and ensuring the development of resources such as the National Guide have a more inclusive scope to include the entire primary health care team.

Dr Clare Heal is Professor and academic lead in General Practice for James Cook University. She is based in Cairns and Mackay Rural Clinical Schools. She is active in clinical and academic General Practice and has published more than 100 peer reviewed journal articles. From 2022-3 she was a Fulbright scholar at Harvard University.

Biography

Dr Jessica McEwan is a GP with a special interest in obesity and medical weight loss. Based on the Sunshine Coast, Dr McEwan has been practicing since 2015 and attained her Fellowship from the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) in 2017. Alongside her clinical work, she serves as an RACGP Senior Medical Educator, helping train the next generation of GPs.
Dr McEwan has built a business in obesity medicine management. She has completed the internationally recognized SCOPE certification, and is a member of the Australian & New Zealand Metabolic and Obesity Surgery Society (ANZMOSS). Her patient care philosophy emphasizes evidence-based medicine and a multidisciplinary approach, focused on delivering individualized, empathetic treatment for those struggling with weight management.
A passionate advocate for change in the field, Dr McEwan completed the RACGP Future Leaders Program, where she collaborated with peers to explore the evolving landscape of General Practice in Australia. This experience has further deepened her commitment to shaping the future of the profession, which she will share during the panel discussion on the future of General Practice.

Cathryn Hester

Biography

Dr Cathryn Hester is a GP and practice owner from Ipswich. She is an experience director and medical leader, with many years of corporate and clinical governance experience. She has been an active member of the RACGP since her fellowship in2012, during which time she has been a College examiner, Qld Faculty Councillor, a Senior Lecture for the University of Queensland and provided strong advocacy for primary care in a variety of forums. Cath also served on the RACGP Expert Committee for Funding and Health System Reform from 2021-2023. She is currently a non-executive director of the West Moreton Hospital and Health Service, is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and holds a Bachelor of Engineering. She has completed her EMBA in Polimi, Milan.
