Biography

Dr Ka-Kiu (KK) Cheung is a GP with over 20 years experience, a senior medical officer (GP with Special Interest) in obstetrics at the Gold Coast University Hospital and a GP supervisor. 

She currently holds roles as the Chair of the RACGP Specific Interest Group for Antenatal Postnatal Care, member of the RACGP QLD Faculty, Associate procedural representative for RANZCOG and board chair of the Gold Coast Primary Health Network. 

She has a particular interest in improving the journey of health consumers by supporting effective health system transitions and enhancing efficiency and sustainability with a one system approach.

Biography

Dr Eleanor Chew is a general practitioner of 40 years. She was on the RACGP Council (2010-2015) and has served as RACGP Vice-President and Chair of Council. She has been Censor and Provost of RACGP Queensland. She sits on a range of committees in the private and government sectors and is currently Chair of AMA Queensland Board. She is a member of the Queensland Medical Women’s Society. In 2019, she was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia for services to medicine.

Michael Clements

Biography

A/Prof Michael Clements is a Townsville based General Practitioner and practice owner with a background in health leadership and clinical and corporate governance and he is the RACGP Rural Faculty Chair. A/Prof Clements has accrued a wide variety of skills and special interests in his time with the Royal Australian Air Force and then with QLD Health as Director of Medical Services at Ingham Hospital before opening his private practices in Townsville while concurrently working for the QLD Rural Generalist Training Pathway as an advisor. Having worked in rural, remote and overseas clinical environments during and after his fellowship training Michael now gets his ‘rural fix’ by flying himself and other clinicians to remote towns in the Gulf of Carpentaria delivering GP clinics. Clinical interests include veterans’ health, mental health, chronic disease and palliative care. Michael is an Honorary Associate Professor with James Cook University.

Biography

Dr Justin Coleman is a GP at Inala Indigenous Health Service in Brisbane, and has spent 12 years as a rural/remote GP in Kakadu, the Tiwi Islands and coastal Victoria.
Justin is a Senior Medical Educator with the Qld RACGP, and has a 20-years history as a ‘freelance’ medical educator for a dozen different agencies, including four universities. He has published more than1500 medical articles, and co-edits Murtagh’s General Practice.

Biography

Dr John Douyere currently lives at Cashmere on the northern outskirts of Brisbane after 23 years in Longreach working as a rural generalist with obstetric and anaesthetic advanced skills plus undertaking advanced skin cancer surgery and medical leadership roles. After graduating from UQ in 1989 he spent time in Townsville, Ayr, Toowoomba, Charleville and Kilcoy before settling in Longreach. Biography

I have been a GP for 15 years with both clinical and non-clinical experience, having worked across 3 continents and observed a range of health systems closely. Having attained fellowship as a GP both in Australia in the UK, I have been a GP supervisor and ECT visitor, an Examiner for the RACGP, a Medical Facilitator at the Black Dog Institute, and a GP Liaison Officer (GPLO) as part of the joint initiative between Metro North HHS and Brisbane North PHN. I have been closely involved with a number of local projects aimed at better integration and collaborative care to improve outcomes for patients with chronic conditions, and with RACGP Future Leaders – aim to shine a light on the journeys and lives of fellow migrant doctors to explore factors which may influence their success and the likelihood of them reaching their full potential in their professional lives as doctors.
I am also a Mum to two girls who often hold me to account the most and bring joy in immeasurable ways and wife of another internationally qualified doctor whom I met while in UK as an aspiring psychiatry trainee. Srishti is the current GPSA Board Chair.

Biography

Dr Rebecca Farley has over 10 years’ experience working in general practice enjoying the diverse opportunities to provide, person centered, continuing and comprehensive care that general practice offers. She worked at Inala Primary Care for many years, where she developed an interest in refugee health care that is now manifest in her work as the Clinical Director of the Mater Refugee Complex Care Clinic and as Refugee Health Clinical Lead with the Brisbane North Primary Healthcare Network. She is the current Chair of the RACGP Migrant, Refugee and Asylum Seeker Health Specific Interest Group.
Rebecca is committed to supporting the development and ongoing education of medical staff, spending eight years working with The University of Queensland before commencing in her role as Deputy Director of Clinical Training at the Princess Alexandra Hospital.

Darran Foo

Biography

Darran is a specialist GP by trade, but in the true spirit of generalism, he wears many hats beyond his clinical role. As a medical director, advisor, researcher, and educator, he brings a multifaceted perspective to the healthcare landscape. Passionate about digital health within primary care, Darran is particularly focused on emerging technologies and novel service delivery methods.

Currently, Darran serves as Medical Director at Healthdirect Australia, where he leads the clinical governance of its virtual GP services. He is also the deputy chair of the RACGP Digital Health and Innovation Specific Interest Group, while maintaining his clinical practice in Sydney.

Furthering his commitment to advancing healthcare, Darran is pursuing a PhD at the Australian Institute of Health Innovation (AIHI). His research centers on emerging models of primary health care service delivery, with a current focus on virtual services and the impact of direct-to-consumer telehealth on traditional primary care systems.

As an educator, Darran supervises students within Macquarie University's MD program on their GP placements and is a GP Supervisor with the RACGP. This role allows him to share his knowledge and experience with the next generation of medical professionals.

Darran's combination of clinical practice, leadership roles, research into emerging healthcare models, and dedication to medical education provides him with a comprehensive view of the evolving healthcare landscape. This diverse experience enables him to contribute meaningfully to ongoing advancements in healthcare, particularly in the dynamic fields of digital health and primary care delivery."
