Biography

Dr Tim Jones is a GP and ‘rural’ generalist with an interest in child and infant health. He is passionate about supporting parents and families in a holistic manner. His clinical areas of interest include infant feeding and settling support, primary care led childhood learning and behavioural assistance, and eating disorder management. Tim works at Glebe Hill Family Practice Hobart as their principal supervisor of registrars, as a senior medical educator with the RACGP and Emerging Minds, and provides developmental and behavioural services for the Tasmanian Health Service.

Jon Jureidini

Biography

Prof Jon Jureidini is a child psychiatrist who also trained in philosophy (PhD, Flinders University), critical appraisal (University of British Columbia) and psychotherapy (Tavistock Clinic). He heads Adelaide University’s Critical and Ethical Mental Health research group (CEMH), which conducts research, teaching and advocacy to promote safer, more effective and more ethical research and practice in mental health; and the Paediatric Mental Health Training Unit (PMHTU), providing training and support to medical students GPs, allied health professionals, teachers and counsellors in non-pathologising approaches to primary care mental health.
He held senior positions at WCH from 1990 – 2021, where his clinical work included child protection, immigration detention and indigenous mental health in remote areas. He has an international reputation for his work on the evidence-base for psychiatry and is a strong advocate for addressing the social determinants of mental health.

Kris Kandasamy

Biography

Dr Kandasamy graduated from the University of Glasgow in 1991, completed his general practice training and anaesthetic training in the UK prior to arriving in Australia to work in mental health and then obstetrics in 1996 . He was a GP anaesthetist and GP obstetrician in Western Victoria and then a GP in ACT and NSW.

Dr Kandasamy worked in Aboriginal Health Services in Northern Territory and set up a Aboriginal Health Service in Northern NSW in conjunction with local Division of General Practice. He was awarded the Department of Health’s NAIDOC award in 2016 for his contribution to Indigenous Health.

Dr Kandasamy started as a Medical Adviser at Medicare in 2007, and has worked in and has experience in various areas of Medicare compliance.

Biography

Catherine Kelaher is a fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and also the Australian Faculty of Occupational and Environmental Medicine. Catherine worked with the Commonwealth Department of Health and Aging throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. She is now at Defence as Senior Occupational and Environmental Physician working to optimise the health and well being of Australia’s Defence Force members. Catherine is interested in lifestyle medicine in preventing and managing chronic disease and is undertaking a PhD in this area.

Alan Leeb is a WA General Practitioner with almost 40 years experience in hospital, rural and metropolitan general practice.

He holds board and committee positions on the RACGP, WA Health Department, government agencies and the commercial sector.


Alan has a special interest in paediatrics and immunisation, and a keen research interest in vaccine safety.

Alan is a primary care researcher and the founder and director of SmartVax, a software platform for the active AEFI surveillance. SmartVax partners with AusVaxSafety to monitor and ensure the safety of the Australian National Immunisation program.
