Overview

Pre-conference workshop 3

Details

Join us for a unique and insightful three-part workshop that explores doctors’ health, medico-legal claims, and the intersection between the two, from a medical defence organisation perspective. The workshop also looks at the issue of doctor health and well-being through the lens of the doctor-patient and the treating doctor, with particular emphasis on the important role of GPs in identifying and managing their own challenges.

Professor Michael Kidd’s introductory remarks will establish the context for our three-part workshop, setting the scene for a dynamic gathering of subject matter experts. Together, we’ll explore effective strategies and embark on a collective call to action to help you develop a self-care plan, promoting a healthy work-life balance. This workshop will empower you to find greater fulfilment in your role as a GP while assisting you in reducing your medico-legal risk and enhancing patient safety.

By the end of the three sessions, attendees will have gained practical strategies to navigate the regulatory landscape, minimise medico-legal risks, and promote a culture of well-being within the medical profession.

CPD
• 4.5 CPD hours - Educational Activity (EA) category
• Reviewing Performance (RP) and Measuring Outcome (MO) activity templates to be made available for RACGP Fellows to complete after the workshop and lodge their own CPD with the RACGP.

Takeaways
At the end of the three-part workshop, participants will be able to:
• Discuss regulatory and professional expectations for doctors' health and well-being
• Identify the medico-legal risks associated with doctors' poor health
• Describe how to promote personal well-being and support colleagues effectively.
