Track 1
Saturday, November 23, 2024
10:30 AM - 11:30 AM
Riverside Theatre

Details

60min clinical workshop | Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is responsible for significant morbidity and premature mortality in Australia. Risk assessment remains fundamental to the primary prevention of CVD and is utilised by GPs to target pharmacotherapy to individuals who will benefit most.
Released in July 2023, the Australian Guideline for assessing and managing CVD risk incorporates a new Aus CVD Risk calculator and updated evidence-based recommendations.
Drawing on feedback provided by clinicians from implementation efforts over the last 12 months, this hands-on, interactive case-based session will facilitate extended discussions around the guideline’s key clinical recommendations to support decision-making in primary care.
Clinicians will be guided through several clinical case studies that highlight key recommendations, including diabetes-specific equation, reclassification factors (e.g. mental health, ethnicity, coronary artery calcium score), redefined risk categories, and treatment thresholds.
