60min clinical workshop | This workshop will explore the transformative potential of AI for GPs, focusing on AI scribes, workflow improvements, research tools, and patient communication.

Biography

Darran is a GP by trade, but in the true spirit of generalism, he wears many hats beyond his clinical role. As a medical director, advisor, researcher, and educator, he brings a multifaceted perspective to the healthcare landscape. Passionate about digital health within primary care, Darran is particularly focused on emerging technologies and novel service delivery methods. Currently, Darran serves as Medical Director at Healthdirect Australia, where he leads the clinical governance of its virtual GP services. He is also the deputy chair of the RACGP Digital Health and Innovation Specific Interest Group, while maintaining his clinical practice in Sydney. Furthering his commitment to advancing healthcare, Darran is pursuing a PhD at the Australian Institute of Health Innovation (AIHI). His research centers on emerging models of primary health care service delivery, with a current focus on virtual services and the impact of direct-to-consumer telehealth on traditional primary care systems. Darran's combination of clinical practice, leadership roles, and research into emerging healthcare models gives him a well-rounded perspective on the evolving landscape of medical technology and service delivery. This diverse experience allows him to contribute meaningfully to the ongoing advancements in healthcare, particularly in the rapidly changing world of digital health and primary care.

Dr Amandeep Hansra is a GP with over 18 years of clinical experience and one of Australia's leading digital health and innovation experts. She is currently the Australian Digital Health Agency's Chief Clinical Adviser. Amandeep is also a deputy chair of the RACGP's Specific Interests Digital Health and Innovation, and also sits on the board and council of AMA NSW. She founded Creative Careers in Medicine, an organisation, with over 25,000 members, that advocates for professional freedom to explore creative career paths in medicine. Amandeep also co-founded Australian Medical Angels, an investment syndicate with over 25 healthtech investments. Amandeep serves as a director on the boards of various national and international organisations, including ACHSI, Molemap, Healthengine and Healthicare. She is a Fellow of the RACGP and Australian Institute of Digital Health and is former CEO and Medical Director of Telstra's telehealth service. She has a Bachelor of Medicine (honours) from the University of Newcastle, a Global Executive MBA from the University of Sydney, a Masters in Public Health and Tropical Medicine from James Cook University, the Australia Certificate in Civil Aviation Medicine, is a Certified Health Informatician of Australia and has completed the Company Directors Course through the Australian Institute of Company Directors. She is also an Adjunct Associate Professor in Biomedical Informatics and Digital Health at the University of Sydney.

Biography

Dr. Sean Stevens is a GP with 27 years of experience in general practice. He is the co-owner and director of Grove Medical Victoria Park, and his previous practice was awarded the 2014 Australian General Practice of the Year. He is the co-host of "The Good GP," Australia's most successful GP podcast, with over 1,000,000 downloads and up to 11,000 listeners per episode. Dr. Stevens has held key leadership positions, including WA Chair and Board Member of RACGP, Chair of the Digital Health and Innovation Specific Interest Group of the RACGP and Inaugural Chair of the Business of General Practice. Dr. Stevens continues to be at the forefront of medical innovation, particularly in integrating AI into general practice.

Dr Janice Tan is a GP and digtal health expert. With dual expertise in primary care and digital health, Janice is currently working with Telstra Health as their Clinical Director for Primary Care. She is also the deputy chair of the CESPHN Clinical Council and the co-deputy chair of the RACGP Digital Health and Innovation Specific Interest Group

Over the years, Janice has provided deep clinical insight on Australia’s primary health ecosystem to government organisations, private corporations, investment bodies and start-ups. She is chiefly interested in the intersection between digital health, primary care and public policy and how it can help solve some of the age-old problems persisting and contributing to health inequity
