60min clinical workshop | Stillbirth has profound impacts on women, families, health systems, and society. Every day in Australia six babies are stillborn. The National Stillbirth Action and Implementation Plan has identified the Safer Baby Bundle (SBB) as a key strategy to reduce stillbirths through supporting healthcare professionals to improve pregnancy care.
This interactive workshop will provide GPs with the skills and knowledge to facilitate best practice care in stillbirth prevention and will be delivered by an expert panel of researchers and clinicians. The panel will also facilitate discussion around the implications of new research.

Biography
Dr Kyria Laird MBBS FRACGP is a Perth based GP. Dr Kyria works clinically in general practice, and as a GP Clinical Editor for Clinician Assist WA (WA Primary Health Alliance). Dr Kyria is responsible for many of the women’s health pathways including abortion and contraception, and is currently developing the WA obstetric pathways. Dr Kyria is currently a GP representative on a variety of panels including the Safer Baby Bundle WA Implementation Working Group.

Biography
Bianca is a Registered Midwife with a diverse background in clinical practice and research. She has extensive experience providing midwifery care to women and their families in various models of care. Dedicated to continuity of care, Bianca has worked closely with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women, supporting them throughout the antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal periods.
Recently, Bianca contributed to an Australian-first randomised controlled trial using Sildenafil during labour, aimed at reducing fetal distress and improving birth outcomes for mothers and babies.
Since joining the Stillbirth CRE, Bianca has been leading the Timing of Birth Pilot Study. Through her clinical and research roles, she is dedicated to advancing midwifery practice and making a positive impact on the lives of women and their families.

Biography
Dr Sarah Smith is the Liaison GP for Western Australia's King Edward Memorial Hospital - the only level 6 Obstetrics & Gynaecology service in WA, and busiest maternity & neonatal hospital. She is a GP with a specific interest in women’s health, sexual and reproductive healthcare and education of health professionals. She has presented at local, state and national conferences. The evolving epidemic of syphilis across Australia has had a significant impact in Western Australia, with an unfortunate marked increase in cases of congenital syphilis over the past 5 years. As a member of the Metropolitan Syphilis Outbreak Response Team, Dr Smith has been involved in education of healthcare professionals, development of guidelines relating to syphilis screening in pregnancy and care of those who have had minimal antenatal care. She is an advocate for GPs and the patient journey through healthcare, and talks about syphilis at every opportunity (including bookclub!)
