Biography

A/Prof McGrail is a mid-career researcher at the University of Queensland’s Rural Clinical School. He trained as a statistician and has worked in rural health units most of his academic career. McGrail is globally recognised for his research of medical workforce training and distributional outcomes, which directly impacts healthcare access for rural populations. He was recently lead CI on an RACGP-funded Education Research Grant.

Biography

Peta Rutherford: Peta is the current CEO of the Rural Doctors Association of Australia, and has been in the role for over eight years. She loves the job and the opportunity to take the innovative ideas and interesting concepts, rural and remote doctors have, and works hard to turn them into a program or policy. Peta uses her past experience of eleven years with Qld Health in medical workforce planning, and small rural & remote hospital management as well as 10 years with Medicare, and an understanding of how the Commonwealth and State systems work, to challenge the policy makers and support RDA members.

Biography

Dr Monika Coha is an Academic Registrar working clinically in Melbourne, and working in medical education and education research at Monash University. She is passionate about medical education and how we as General Practitioners can support the wellbeing of students, while also preparing them for entering the workforce. Her current research area explores how we teach sensitive topics in the medical school curriculum and how we can improve as health professional educators in this space. She also has a special interest in Women's Health in her clinical work and holds a RANZCOG Certificate of Women's Health.
