Session summary

In this session we will explain the new CPD minimum requirements for the 2023-25 triennium and the introduction of the Medical Board of Australia’s CPD registration standard. We will cover how you can easily record your activities and make CPD an integrated part of your day-to-day life.

Abstract

Learning outcomes

1. Describe the changes to CPD for all medically registered doctors.
2. Explain the three types of CPD Activity Types and how these can be captured.
3. Describe what a CPD Home is and how RACGP is the preferred CPD Home for general practice.
4. Discuss the process for ensuring you meet the MBA and RACGP CPD requirements.

Biography

Dr Lara Roeske is a GP, Chair RACGP National Faculty of Specific Interests, member of the Commonwealth's Self Collection Expert Advisory Group (SCEAG), member of The Renewal Steering Committee Working Party-National Cervical Screening Guidelines and a member of the RACGP Post-Vocational Education Committee.

Biography

Dr Judith Culliver is the National Clinical Lead – Education Development and Strategy, Frameworks and Accreditation. Judith Culliver is a GP who worked in the northern suburbs of Melbourne for many years. Her interest in medical education has been at undergraduate, prevocational and postgraduate levels.

Biography

Professor David Wilkinson is National Clinical Lead – Continuing Professional Development, providing clinical and medical leadership to the RACGP CPD Program. He is a GP in active clinical practice, with a specific interest in skin and skin cancer. Previously David was Deputy Vice Chancellor at Macquarie University and Dean of Medicine at The University of Queensland. Prior to that David trained in medicine in the UK and worked in Africa for a decade.

Biography

Rob LoPresti is the Chief Education Officer at the RACGP, commencing at the college in May 2021. He is dedicated to ensuring Australia’s GPs have the best possible education experience with the RACGP. Rob has extensive experience in senior education leadership positions across both the education and public health sectors and has led numerous large scale transformation projects. He was previously the Director, Clinical Education at Austin Health, responsible for the governance, strategic and operational leadership of a large interprofessional unit delivering lifelong learning to medicine, nursing and allied health clinicians. Prior to this Rob held the positions of Clinical Education Manager and Director of Interprofessional Education and Special Projects within the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences, at the University of Melbourne. Rob commenced his professional career as a Physiotherapist specialising in Intensive Care and has a Master of Management from the University of Melbourne.
