This interactive ALM will utilise a highly interactive platform to allow participants to explore evidence based strategies to optimise their own wellbeing. This exciting new style of workshop will have a grounding in mindfulness techniques in various forms and a focus of compassion to self, others and our patients.

Biography

Dr Ashlea Broomfield (MBBS (Hons), DCH, FRACGP) is a GP working on the North Coast of NSW. Her interest in Doctor’s Wellbeing began working as a Registrar Liason Officer during her GP training. Subsequently Ashlea has been working to bring Doctor’s Wellbeing to the forefront of RACGP activities in her roles on NSW&ACT Faculty Council. As the New Fellows Chair she helped facilitated convocation items that were successfully submitted to support the RACGP invest in Doctor’s Wellbeing as a priority. Most recently Ashlea created and facilitated the inaugural NSW/ACT Wellbeing Weekend and has partnered with other GPs to create the podcast ‘Just a GP’ which has doctor’s wellbeing as a consistent theme. She is interested in connecting GPs together and facilitating new ways of approaching the concept of wellbeing as it relates to career and the patient experience.

Biography

Dr Michael de Manincor MPsych, PhD is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Mind-Body-Lifestyle Therapies and Integrative Medicine at NICM Health Research Institute, Western Sydney University. Michael is a registered psychologist and yoga teacher/therapist with expertise in Yoga, Mindfulness, and Mental Health, and is leader of the mind-body therapies and related research in the Western Sydney Integrative Health (WSIH) centre, a translational research initiative of NICM. Michael is passionate about enhancing self-care and well-being to support his own life, and the lives of others.
