Dr Clare Heal is Professor and academic lead in General Practice for James Cook University. She is based in Cairns and Mackay Rural Clinical Schools. She is active in clinical and academic General Practice and has published more than 100 peer reviewed journal articles. From 2022-3 she was a Fulbright scholar at Harvard University.

Dr Michaela Kelly is a general practitioner with clinical interests in aged care, perioperative medicine and prehabilitation. She is an associate professor in the General Practice Clinical Unit at The University of Queensland, academic coordinator for the Medicine in Society course and developed the Vulnerability in Medicine program. She is ‘Partner and Team Player’ theme lead and year 4 Design lead for the new MD. Michaela completed a Master of Clinical Education at the University of Melbourne and contributed to the development of the RACGP aged care clinical guide and standards for General Practice Aged Care.

Associate Professor Jane Smith is a specialist GP and Academic Head of General Practice in the MD Program at Bond University. Her research interests have included: skin cancer, journal clubs, immunisation, medication use, antimicrobials and package size, chronic disease management and prevention, recurrent thrush, fever, medical education and assessment.
She has experience in both quantitative and qualitative research methods.
At Bond University, she created the GP curriculum and learning activities for the medical students to include aligned teaching, GP work place based activities and assessments.
Chairing the Bond University, Faculty of Health Science and Medicine, sustainability committee and teaching pre-intern medical students about becoming more environmentally sustainable in GP clinical practice was the inspiration for this presentation. She is also a co-author of Balancing the risks and benefits of sun exposure: A revised position statement for Australian adults, so able to present a summary of the recommendations if so desired.
