Practice owners in general practice carry a significant duty of care to their staff, extending beyond patient care and business operations. This session will challenge practice owners to rethink their legal and ethical responsibilities through three key areas:
Learning Outcomes: • Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) – The Positive Duty. Understanding the proactive obligation to manage risks, including psychosocial hazards, and how non-compliance can impact staff well-being and business liability. • Wage Compliance & Avoiding Wage Theft - Navigating payroll obligations to ensure correct award interpretation and compliance with Fair Work regulations, reducing financial and reputational risks. • Leadership & Workplace Culture - How a practice owner’s leadership directly shapes workplace culture, staff engagement, and retention—and the consequences of neglecting this responsibility.
