This workshop will enable practice owners and managers interested in research, to identify the key features of being ready to engage in research in the Australian context. Attendees will be guided to: identify research projects that can be easily conducted within their practice to ensure disruption is minimised; how to productively engage with research teams, explore research methods, and examine options for financial support, training and personal development opportunities. The workshop will feature presentations and facilitated activities.
Learning Outcomes: • Participants will be introduced to examples of research currently running in general practice and the benefits of bringing research into everyday clinical care. • Learn about research methods, funding and training opportunities and how these might benefit participants’ own clinical practice.

Biography
Dr Kaylor-Hughes is a Senior Research Fellow in applied mental health research. She is a neuroscientist with over 20 years' research experience in the UK and Australia, specialising in implementing mental health research into primary and secondary care through pragmatic clinical trials. Her leadership of mental health trials has resulted in implementation of collaborative care practices, improved services for people with moderate and severe mental ill health and educational advancements for medical teaching. She is currently academic lead for the integration of the Link-me model of care into the Commonwealth's Medicare mental health website and Co-lead of the Primary Care Mental Health Program within the Department of General Practice and Primary Care at the University of Melbourne.
