Details
This session will outline the Australian Government’s $7.9 billion investment to strengthen bulk billing in general practice, announced in the 2024–25 Budget. From 1 November 2025, GPs will be eligible for bulk billing incentives when billing an additional 15 million Australians aged 16 and over who do not hold a concession card. The session will focus on the new Bulk Billing Practice Incentive Program, which offers a 12.5% quarterly Medicare rebate loading to practices that bulk bill all patients for all non-referred GP attendance items. This initiative is expected to financially benefit over 4,800 general practices across Australia.
Learning Outcomes: • To support practice owners, understand how the Program and incentive expansion will work for them, the Department of Health and Aged Care proposes to discuss eligibility requirements, provide examples and demonstrate modelling tools to outline how this investment would financially benefit some practices to deliver fully bulk billed care
