Details

This session explores how AI automation can help general practices overcome financial pressures, particularly the high cost of staff wages, which can consume up to 20% of patient billings. By streamlining administrative workflows—such as document handling, phone calls, scheduling, and after-hours services—AI reduces staff burden, improves efficiency, and supports retention. Drawing from real-world implementation, the session highlights how AI can complement rather than replace human staff, enabling more patient-focused care. Attendees will learn how to assess their practice needs, select suitable AI tools, and plan effective integration to achieve long-term cost savings, improved operations, and better patient outcomes.

Learning Outcomes: • Identify specific administrative functions within general practice that are suitable for AI automation and evaluate their potential impact on practice efficiency and the standard 20% wage-to-billing ratio benchmark. • Analyse the complementary relationship between AI technology and human staff within general practice, distinguishing tasks best suited to automation versus those requiring human interaction to optimise patient care outcomes. • Develop a structured implementation framework for introducing AI automation into practice management systems, incorporating consideration of staff training requirements, regulatory compliance, data security protocols and measurable performance indicators.
