This session will explain the importance of uptime within a modern medical practice and how primary and secondary internet connectivity can keep your practice operational during outages. During this session, you will gain practical insight into real-world connectivity risks, common failure points, and proven strategies to ensure your practice stays online, connected, and profitable - even when the unexpected occurs. Presenter: Richard Boothby Tech Spotlight Session 1. Presented by Medcast (10min) Title: Seeing differently: how AI can take load off General Practice Outline: General practice is under mounting pressure: rising patient complexity, workforce shortages, growing compliance demands, and escalating staff burnout. This session explores the evolving realities of Australian general practice and what owners should demand from technology: trusted, Australian-aligned clinical information; transparent evidence; billing and referral guidance; onboarding playbooks; and teaching tools that strengthen — rather than replace - professional judgement. Presenter: A/Prof Stephen Barnett A/Prof Stephen Barnett is a GP, practice owner, and medical educator with more than 20 years’ clinical experience. He is co-founder and CEO of Medcast, Australia’s largest independent postgraduate healthcare education provider, supporting over 100,000 health professionals. A Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Wollongong, Stephen’s work focuses on the intersection of clinical care, education, and technology, particularly how AI can support safer, more sustainable general practice. He continues to practise part-time as a rural GP and GP Supervisor in the Southern Highlands, NSW. 2. Presented by 24/7 AI Healthcare (10min) Title: From Overwhelmed to Optimised: Applying AI to General Practice Administration Outline: This session explores how the 24/7 AI Healthcare Receptionist can be applied in general practice to safely reduce repetitive administrative workload while maintaining clinical quality, patient trust, and data governance standards. The presentation focuses on real-world implementation outcomes rather than theory or product promotion, demonstrating where this solution adds measurable value and where human oversight remains essential. Attendees will gain insight into how a hybrid human–AI reception model using the 24/7 AI Healthcare Receptionist can improve workflow efficiency, reduce front-desk burden, and enhance patient communication. Presenter: Dr Praveen Konadi and Mitch Fox
