A presentation on the evolution from registrars to contractors to the process where we are now the owners of four practices. We will talk on the mindset changes we have had to do to make this happen.
Share how we went from "struggle bunnies" to "conductors of our orchestras" and show how much fun we have had along the way. Teach others to enjoy running General Practices.

Speaker
Dr Eydis Konradsdottir
GP
Lindfield Family Medicine
Chairperson
13:15 - 14:00
Dr Eydis Konradsdottir is a General Practitioner and co-owner of Lindfield Family Medicine in Sydney, a practice that has proudly served the Lindfield community for over 40 years. Eydis enjoys all aspects of general practice, with particular interests in paediatrics, adolescent and women's health.
Before medicine, Eydis represented Iceland as a two-time Olympian in swimming which was an experience that instilled in her the discipline, perspective and insight she now brings to both her clinical work and her approach to practice leadership.
Eydis is committed to striking the right balance between clinical excellence, professional development and personal wellbeing for her practice family. She believes that when practitioners feel supported, motivated, and given the space to grow, better patient outcomes follow naturally. As a current member of the RACGP Future Leaders Program, this commitment to leadership and innovation within General Practice continues to grow.
Dr Brett Quabba
GP, Director
Beyond Medical
The fundamental mindset shifts that take you from GP, to owner, to CEO
13:15 - 14:00
Dr Brett Quabba is a practicing General Practitioner with 12 years of clinical experience and a co-owner of three clinics on the Gold Coast. Driven by a deep passion for general practice and its vital role in healthcare delivery, Brett and his business partner Dr Krista Talbot have spent the last several years building a model of doctor-owned, patient-centred medicine that puts health promotion, disease prevention, and cradle-to-grave family care back at its core.
Brett believes that great general practice is only possible when GPs feel genuinely valued — professionally, financially, and within their communities — and that profitable, well-run practices are the foundation for delivering that. He is passionate about championing a movement where doctor-owners lead with purpose, patients access world-class preventive care, and the profession reclaims its rightful place at the centre of the healthcare system.
Dr Krista Talbot
Owner
Beyond Medical
The fundamental mindset shifts that take you from GP, to owner, to CEO
13:15 - 14:00
Dr Krista Talbot (Bsc 2022) (MBBS 2006) FRACGP 2011. Dr Talbot graduated from The University of Queensland in 2006 and completed her Junior Hospital Years at Gold Coast Hospital before entering into General Practice Training. She has worked in many practices across Queensland and NSW as part of this process, all the time assessing the attributes of what makes a General Practice exceptional. In 2021 she bought into her first practice with her partner Dr Brett Quabba and in 2023 they started their second practice. In 2025 they purchased their third practice and welcomed a new partner, Shane Barker into the fold. Krista, Brett and Shane started "Beyond Medical". Beyond Medical has a mission to Change the Face of General Practice in Australia by ensuring exceptional care and service at every step of the patient journey. By doing this they know they will improve the health of their patients and their families and hope to encourage leading junior doctors and nurses to choose General Practice first. Dr Krista is constantly pushing boundaries and looking for areas of growth and development. When she is not changing the face of General Practice you can find her with her family, out in the surf, going for a run or indulging her guilty pleasure- reading autobiographies.
