Details

Financial sustainability is the foundation of high-quality patient care. This session demystifies the drivers of profitability in general practice by breaking down the Profit Equation into a simple, actionable model that owners can apply immediately. Attendees will explore the two primary revenue levers, Price × Quantity (R = P x Q), and learn how service mix, billing models, and appointment structure influence financial outcomes. The session also breaks down cost drivers, distinguishing fixed and variable costs and showing how they interact with staffing, utilisation, and operational efficiency. Using real practice examples, attendees will see how small changes in clinical workflow, fee setting, or resourcing can significantly impact profit and financial sustainability. A practical dashboard will also be introduced to help owners track key performance indicators (KPIs) and make confident, data-informed decisions. This session equips practice owners with the clarity and confidence to use financial data as a strategic tool, rather than a compliance task. In this session, Joseph Gendy, founder of Sapphire Bay Partners, will share insights from advising medical practices on leveraging financial data, frameworks and performance levers to improve profitability and long-term stability.
