From IMG to FRACGP and long term collegue: a how-to guide
13:15 - 14:00
Ian is a passionate rural generalist who has grown his practice from one doctor and one registrar to 25 doctors covering Tamworth and 3 surrounding towns. Most he has recruited from overseas, but some are also local, and all are keen on staying and working together, with many now supervisors themselves.
Ian is a member of the Rural and NSW/ACT Faculty Councils and is also the SLO for FSP. In his role as Federal AMA Chair of the Council of Rural Doctors he argued passionately for the set up of a similar council for IMGs, which commenced last year.
Ian's interests apart from rural GP training, are in addiction and palliative medicine along with VAD. Outside of medicine Ian enjoys expanding his knowledge of wine.
