Professor in General Practice and Primary Care Research, Director, Centre for Health System Reform and Integration, University of Qld
Claire has been extensively involved in health services research and reform since the early 90s. She has been a member of both the Primary Health Care Advisory Group and the National Primary Care Strategy ERG - guiding forces behind Australia’s national primary care agenda. Her ‘beacon’ practice model was the clinical prototype for UQ’s successful $ 10 million Superclinic initiative. Claire has been a national driver in the Health Care Home initiative – publishing and presenting widely on the topic and sitting on national Advisory Committees for both Ministers Plebisek and Ley. She has been Clinical Director of two $ 2.5 million Centres for Research Excellence - one in care integration, the other investigating the impact of researcher and end-user ‘co-creation’ on clinical quality, patient experience, and models of care.
DR WILLIAM GLASSON AO, MBBS, FRANZCO, FRACS, FRCOPHTH, FRACGP (HONS), DIP APPSC(QPH), A/PROF UNIVERSITY OF QLD FACULTY OF MEDICINE
Dr Glasson graduated from the University of Queensland in 1980 and completed his residency at the Princess Alexandra Hospital and the Mater Hospital. After completing his ophthalmic training in Brisbane he undertook postgraduate training in London in the area of ocular oncology as well as working in the area of lid and lacrimal pathology. Doctor Glasson joined the Terrace Eye Centre in 1988. He also conducts ophthalmology clinics at Longreach, Winton, Barcaldine and Blackall. Dr Glasson is a general ophthalmologist with a special interest in ocular oncology, refractive surgery and lacrimal surgery. He is currently a consultant ophthalmologist at the Mater Public Hospital, 2nd Field Hospital Enoggera and Longreach Base Hospital. He is a past President of the Australian Medical Association (AMA) and the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists. He is a consultant ophthalmologist to the Australian Army and holds the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He also provides outreach services to the Australian indigenous population as well as providing ophthalmic services in East Timor.
