Presented by Dr. Melita Cullen, Dr. Michael Fraser and Dr. Marita Long - Developmental, behavioural and mental health is important in childhood. Furthermore, has a significant impact on children’s life-long trajectory of health and wellbeing. In this session, we explore opportunities in general practice for working with families in each of these areas.

Bread and butter paediatrics in general practice: promoting developmental, mental and behavioural health in childhood.
Biography
Melita Cullen is a GP in Scarborough QLD and has a specific interest in paediatric medicine. Melita has recently completed further extended skills training in ADHD through Children's Health Queensland. She particularly enjoys developmental and complex paediatric care as well as supporting children who are gender diverse. Her other interests include allergy, immunology and chronic constipation.
Marita Long is a GP in Tasmania. She also works for Family Planning as a clinician and for General Practice Tasmania as a medical educator. Marita has a background in paediatric nursing and worked as a maternal and child health nurse for 5 years. She currently has admitting rights to a mother and baby unit in Hobart.
Michael Fasher has been a general practitioner in Blacktown, NSW for 38 years. He enjoys teaching medical students, supervising registrars and contributing to peer professional development. He is Co-Chair of the Health of Children and Young People Network within the RACGP Faculty of Specific Interests.
