Cancer Survivorship for Primary Care Practitioners Workshop

Presenter biographies: Professor Jon Emery is the Herman Professor of Primary Care Cancer Research at the University of Melbourne, a new Chair developed within the Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre. He is an NHMRC Practitioner Fellow, Director of the Cancer Australia Primary Care Collaborative Cancer Clinical Trials Group (PC4), and a Visiting Research Fellow at the University of Cambridge. He studied medicine at Cambridge and Oxford and obtained his DPhil at Oxford on computer decision support to assess cancer risk in general practice. His research interests are in the role of primary care in cancer prevention, diagnosis and follow-up, and primary care trials of complex interventions.
Associate Professor Justin Tse is Director of Medical Education (Clinical Dean) at St Vincent's Hospital Clinical School, University of Melbourne. In addition to his appointment at St Vincent's Hospital Clinical School, he is Research Fellow at the Cancer Council of Victoria and immediate Past Chair – RACGP specific interest network in Cancer and Palliative Care. His research interests include prostate cancer, medical education and the increasing role of technology in medical practice. He is in clinical practice in Ivanhoe.
Ms Yvonne Panek-Hudson is a nurse practitioner in the Haematology Service, specialising in the long term follow up of patients post-allogeneic bone marrow transplant. Her interest include late effects surveillance and management, chronic graft versus host disease and sexual health.
Yvonne has worked in the speciality of bone marrow transplant for 23 years and has completed postgraduate education including a Masters Degree. She is involved in the education of haematology nurses in Victoria and recently held the position of Victorian representative of the HSANZ nurses group. Yvonne was the joint recipient of a Victorian Department of Health fellowship in 2012 and visited cancer survivorship centres in the USA.
