Recall, assessment, recording and follow up is key to effective screening for diabetic microvascular disease. General practice is the ideal site for screening and new MBS items for diabetic retinopathy screening open up opportunities for GPs to help prevent blindness in the many Australians with diabetes currently missing out on appropriate care. Dr Dubey will provide an overview on DR in Australia, screening for DR in primary care, grading DR and the MBS items available to GP’s for DR screening in primary care. Dr Hussein will present on his experience introducing a DR screening service in his practice and discuss the impact it has had on his clinic and his patients.
